Tura Magic – Nick Eleven – Ramblers and Cymot SKW in Top 4 League - 25/06/2012

One of the above teams will be the first NFA u/15 champion in history. Last weekend the last match day of the qualification round took place.

The qualification round consisted of two streams (Oryx and Zebra). The top two teams of each stream qualified for the Top 4 League 2012 while the remaining teams will play each other in a B-League. The B-League will kick off coming Saturday including the Top 4 encounter Tura Magic vs Nick Eleven while the other Top 4 u/15 encounter between the two qualification log leaders and arch revivals will be played during the week because both team has got tournament commitments. In the Top 4 League the teams will play each other twice (home and away) while the six B-League teams will play each other once. The NFA u/15/17 ladies ended their campaign in the u/15 qualification with a win against Windhoek United. The ladies currently touring Germany will not take part in the B-League due to the international commitments. The u/15 committee decided to go for this format instead of playing a knock out, to give the weaker teams more playing time. After all it is youth football and we want to develop and keep players off the street in having maximum match time. Rolf Beiter, the chairman of the u/15 NFA League,"I am very happy of the sporting behavior of all teams and coaches who all seemed to understand that in youth football not all is about winning. The NFA referees so far always pitched, while we had to dismiss a few teams due to no show".

A 22 meter cracker by SKW youngster Olaf Beiter brought SKW the deserved lead when 15minutes before the final whistle the match took a dramatic turn when an ill disciplined Tura Magic team and coach insulted the referees. J Hefoso equalized for Tura Magic with 10minutes to go but SKW came strongly back and took the lead a minute later by substitute Filipe Cardoro. The match had to stop by the officials when the referees were again assaulted and nearly took an ugly end. In this turmoil SKW lost concentration and had to accept a decision by the referee (who showed a good performance until been insulted) after he gave an illegal goal in the last minute. Hiha Katjivena and Ashley Karupa were SKW best. SKW midfield tank Tangeni Ndeitunga had to be replaced after an injury early in the first half.

SKW win Youth League

Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) was crowned champions of the inaugural NFA Khomas Under-15 League on Saturday.

In the deciding encounter of the season, SKW faced nemesis Ramblers at the NFA Technical Centre and it was the Olympia-based side SKW that hammered their opponents 4-0 to all but win the championship with 14 points, one ahead of second-place Ramblers. Tangeni Ndeitunga scored twp for the SKW with teammates Daniel Hassenpflug, and George Hummel adding one each.
Earlier on in the day, Tura Magic beat Nick Eleven by 3-1 to take the bronze medal in third place on five points, while Eleven finished bottom of the log on a single point after six matches played in the Top-Four Championship.

in the B League, Katutura Youth Academy finished top on 12 points after four games played, followed by Katsville with seven points and Windhoek United in third also on seven points, while Kaizen Football Academy finished fourth on one point and Mario Football Academy last also with a point from four games.

SKW cemented their dominance of local youth football as they have earlier also had their under-17 team win the NFA Khomas Under-17 League.
The NFA in April 2012 launched the Pilot Youth Leagues Project with the primary objective of ensuring that structures are in place to streamline youth football and nurture its development.
Youth Football was solely left to schools to run in the past, but about three years ago with the introduction of the NFA's Youth Development through Football (YDF) programme, the rationale changed.
